Nokia unveil its affordable X2-01 mobile phone

Nokia has launched the X2-01 model and is currently retailing for a price of Rs. 4,495. Nokia X2-01 is a budget QWERTY phone operating on Symbian S40 system. It comes with a 2.4-inch QVGA display with a 320x240 pixel resolution.



The Nokia X2-01 has 64MB RAM and 128MB ROM. The phone comes with a standard VGA resolution camera. The X2-01 supports a micro SD card up to 8GB, has USB 2.0 and Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity. The Nokia X2-01 has a 3.5mm audio jack and a dedicated music shortcut button.

Nokia terminated Ovi Music Service in 27 countries

World's the highest selling mobile phone company, Nokia announced the discontinuation of free streaming music service, Ovi in 27 countries. Ovi music unlimited will continue in a limited capacity with 12 month subscription in India and China as well as six month subscription in Brazil, Turkey and South Africa.

According to Nokia, they have changed the availability of devices bundled with an Ovi music unlimited subscription to improve the Ovi experience for the millions of consumers who use it.

Ovi music service was launched by Nokia to challenge Apple's iTune but failed to offer significant competition.

Nokia most trusted brand in India

Nokia has been voted the most trusted brand in India according to a survey conducted and published by research firm Trust Research Advisory (TRA). The “Brand Trust Report, India Study 2011 was launched in Mumbai on Tuesday by Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, Former President of India. The survey covered 16,000 brands, based on 61 questions to 2310 respondents in nine major cities.

The number two and three spots were taken by Tata and Sony, respectively, while LG and Samsung were positioned at number four and five.

Describing the methodology of the survey, TRA’s CEO N Chandramouli said, “As trust is a veiy subjective term, we developed a trust matrix which included 61 components defining trust which include empathy, non-threatening ambience, perceived competence, corporate altruism, commanding respect, shared interest, displaying sincerity, enthusiasm, outward appearance and accepting responsibility.”

Other interesting results from the survey were that Pepsi came in at number 36, while Coca-Cola was at 60th place.

Samsung drop and No. 2 place captured by Chinese G’Five

The shake in the Indian mobile handset industry go on with the most recent industry figures, Nokia and Korean firm Samsung have basis to be anxious based on those figures.

Nokia's hold over the Indian market loosened further as its market share slide by another 5% in the July to September quarter, according to data by IDC, according to a market research agency. In the Indian mobile phone market Nokia remains the largest mobile handset brand with a 31.5% share.

Samsung quit number two slot in the market to small-recognized Chinese brand G'Five. G'Five has a 10.6% share, the Korean handset manufacturer in contrast ended the September quarter with an 8.2% share.

The Finnish handset manufacturer, till a couple of years ago, dictates the Indian mobile handset market like a colossus with more than a 70% share. But it has been hit by new players such as Micromax, Spice and Lava. Its market has been influenced upon by the likes of Apple's iPhone and Blackberry.

Samsung, however, sought to play down the latest IDC figures and said its market share has actually gone up according to IDC's rival research firm GfK- Nielsen's data. "As per GfK-Nielsen's data, we had 19.3% market share for the month of October. We strengthened our dual-SIM portfolio considerably and maintained our leadership in the touch screen segment with a 36% market share," a Samsung spokesman said in an email response when quizzed about the reasons for vacating

Nokia X2-01 Mobiles

The Nokia X2-01 is a low-cost messaging phone intended to hit the shops before Christmas. If only just. At an estimated price of €80 before a tax and carrier financial support.
If you get over the fact that the Nokia X2-01 is a slightly strange-looking device, it soon becomes apparent that this is really a cut-down version of the Nokia C3-00, dropping the WiFi support from the C3 and reduction the camera to a very basic 0.3 megapixel one.

However, you do still get a QWERTY keyboard 2.4" 320 x 240 pixel display, Blue tooth, a microSD slot, a media player and an FM radio plus a 3.5mm audio connector.
You can use the QWERTY keyboard with the X2-01's built-in messaging and email applications, even though you probably want to guide clear of web browsing on a device with no 3G or WiFi support.

It is a pretty firmly focused device - if you are only interested in messaging then this phone strength well be for you, but the lack of high speed data and the ultra-basic camera means that it will probably have a limited marketplace appeal, although it does look to have some promise as a music player too.

Nokia say that the X2-01 will be available in red, deep grey, silver, lilac and azure colors. In our opinion the lighter colors look much better, buy in any case Nokia have been managed to make it a bit different to look at compared to other similar devices.
Scheduled availability is Q4, but if you are after a contemptible Nokia messaging phone for Christmas then frankly you could always go for the existing Nokia C3 in its place which does have the added advantage of WiFi.
